OUR MISSION

OUR MISSION

OUR MISSION

Camp Sisterhood’s mission is centered upon authenticity and belonging— the core need for girls to be seen, accepted, and belong as their most authentic selves. At Camp Sisterhood, we full heartedly believe that the power of sisterhood, connection to intuition, and safety to express the full spectrum of emotions creates a deeply important foundation for well-being as girls move through the developmental stages of girlhood and womanhood. Camp Sisterhood’s mission also encompasses the importance of mother-daughter work and breaking intergenerational cycles along the maternal line. We are dedicated to guiding girls and women as they reclaim their power of femininity and dismantle years of judgment of self and other females, staying small, self-doubt, masking, denial of human emotions, people-pleasing, caretaking, shame, and disconnection from the body. We believe that by supporting mothers and daughters within their relationship and in their journey to reclaim the divine feminine, we can reshape the way the next generation of girls express themselves, see themselves, and interact in the world.

Dr. Liv and Dr. Katie are both doctors of psychology and best friends. They are deeply passionate about supporting young girls along their journey of girlhood into young womanhood. They believe that creating an intentional space of belonging can unleash and ignite girls’ deep knowing of their worth, their purpose, and their place in this world. They believe this is the space that all girls deserve — to be free, connected, seen, nurtured, and held.

SLEEPAWAY CAMP FOR GIRLS

Stay tuned for Camp Sisterhood Winter 2025 and Summer 2025 Sessions!

There is something incredibly magical that happens when girls and women get together for slumber parties, sleepovers, and sleepaway camp. The veils thin, vulnerability and silliness increases, the stars and pjs come out, bonding in relationships accelerate, fairy dust appears, and a shared experience is created which only this group of girls truly understand. Girls experience a felt sense of belonging, connection, and like they are part of something larger than themselves. It’s a safety net, a sisterhood, a family! When girls feel seen for their true selves, connected, and feel a sense of purpose and community, their nervous systems are regulated, their self-worth is increased, and there is a general sense of safety.

We dreamed about creating a sleepaway camp for girls and after countless conversations about the girls we worked with and, of course, our shared love for the movie, Parent Trap, we developed the idea of Camp Sisterhood—a sleepaway camp for girls. Our vision for Camp Sisterhood centered around two core intentions: authenticity and belonging. It was important to us to incorporate and support the yin and yang of life as a young girl—the lightness of play and joy and the darkness of sorrow and unworthiness. We wanted to make sure there were no stones unturned when it came to creating a space where girls could be REAL and share all their parts. We wanted to create an environment where girls could be accepted for their true, unsuppressed selves while also feeling a deep sense of connection, trust, and sisterhood. Given that we are therapists and spend much of our week working therapeutically with girls of all ages, we felt it was deeply important to create a camp vision and program which took girls’ developmental, social, and emotional needs into consideration in a big way. We wanted the silliness, laughter, games, water fights, marshmallow roasting, and skits to exist right alongside the harder conversations about friendship conflicts, self-worth, the transition from girlhood to young womanhood, puberty and menstruation, body image, darker emotions, and family conflict.

PAST WORKSHOPS

MOTHER DAUGHTER WORKSHOP

The mother daughter workshop is an opportunity to travel back in time to re-meet your inner tween and introduce her to your daughter. Connect authentically with your daughter and fully see and celebrate one another’s inner magic. Participate in a rite of passage honoring the transformation of your relationship with your daughter as she moves from girlhood to young womanhood.

THE POWER OF RED

The Power of Red workshop is designed for girls approaching and experiencing the first few years of menstruation and puberty. The intention is to shift the narrative of periods inciting shame, fear, isolation, and self-consciousness to one of joy, celebration, confidence, connection to one’s body, and togetherness. We are passionate about normalizing, de-stigmatizing, and sharing aspects of natural development, body changes, and associated mixed emotions. We believe that shared vulnerability encourages inner strength and a sense of belonging and doing so in community within a safe sisterhood of girls is paramount to this rite of passage. By having these conversations openly, honestly, humorously, and without judgment, girls are able to let go of shame around their bodies, emotions, and periods in general. These conversations lay the foundation for self-trust, trust between girls, and trust in the natural ebbs and flows of life. Through conversation, play, storytelling, creative expression, and education, we create a space for girls that is fun, engaging, and that fosters deeper insight. The Power of Red workshop for girls is a rite of passage experience designed to help girls reclaim the innate power, strength, and beauty inherent in this monumental transformation.

DARE TO BE YOURSELF

Dare to be Yourself is a workshop where girls are led through a journey of reconnecting with their true essence through the magic of sisterhood, play, creativity, & initiatory challenges. Much like the adventure and stages of a theme park ride, the girls will journey through the various phases of holding space for the fear that arises when unapologetically being themselves, sharing that part of themselves with their sisterhood group, and processing the vulnerability of such. The girls will learn about their truest parts that they may hide from others as they face challenges and take risks in the form of games to develop the bravery, grit, and self-worth it takes to truly be themselves in the world! This provides the perfect foundation as girls enter the new school year and are tempted to abandon their truth in an attempt to belong and be loved. After this, girls will dare to be themselves just a little bit more!

“Camp Sisterhood has changed me in a way where I’ve been more open to experiences…I just felt really at peace here. There hasn’t been any like conflict which usually happens in day-to-day life which kind of gets me down, but this has really brought me up! When I was at my house or in my town area, I’d have friends but we’d just talk sometimes and it wouldn’t be good conversations or I wouldn’t feel at home with them, but these girls are from all different parts of California and I feel like I can really open up to them and they can open up to me. I think when I first met them I was really really scared and I was like, ‘oh, these girls are going to judge me,’ but they’re not — they’re just really nice people in general.”

“Something I learned about myself at Camp was that I really enjoy bonding with other people. Personally, I thought of myself as an introvert, which I still kind of am, but this has really helped me come out of my shell.”

“A fear that I overcame was being nervous to make friends, because I don’t really make friends that easily and I don’t show my real side, like the side that I have to protect because if someone like laughs at me or is rude, that’s the side that I want to stay hidden, but I want to be comfortable, so Camp has helped me to be comfortable with other people.”

“Some things I learned about myself at Camp are that I’m a lot more goofy than I originally thought…Camp has changed me in that I feel safer in myself and I know I can do hard things, like facing my inner self and staying for periods of time without my family and with a bunch of friends.”

“Something I will definitely take with me is having the courage to put yourself out there because I definitely watched a lot of girls who came in really introverted and shy and I watched them just grow and make more bonds with other girls and that was just so heartwarming to see and that’s definitely something that I also want to experience more in life, like just having confidence.”

“Camp Sisterhood has changed my mentality as I like look back on my own childhood and early teen years because you kind of forget a lot of it as you’re getting older like you forget all the awkward bits and all the really funny bits and what its totally like and when I see all these girls experiencing it for the first time and just interacting with each other it really brings me back to that time when I was their age and it just brings back so many good memories and awkward memories and helps me form a better picture of what I was like when I was their age.”
